Superb quality pot.

Tested heat loss using 35l of plain old water. Raised temp to 71C...only lost 5c in fifty mins. Mash would hold temp better I'd imagine. :D

This was bought for my 1st trip into the world of BIAB.

Once I'm familiar with this I'll be using this pot as my HLT and buying a vacuum pot for my mash tun.

8-)

Hi Ian

Thanks for your post. The very first ! Was feeling a bit lonely here

I think you are right, the thermos pots do hold temperature very well and are tried and tested

There are some reviews here relating to this http://www.angelhomebrew.co.uk/en/stock ... s-pot.html

Also, you need to factor in an initial heat loss on a cold pot as there will be heat lost as the pot and its insulation are warmed up by taking heat from its contents

Worked a treat - held 65.6C with 5.54 Kg pale malt (trying to make a BIAB German Pilsner) for 75 mins under a duvet bungie corded onto the pot. Only slight problem was the amount of hot/cold break material and hop leaves left in the bottom of the pot due to me having bought a 12" bazooka filter. Have just ordered the Stainless Steel Hop Strainer to hopefully make life easier. Will try to whirlpool the next brew.

Banged content into Cornie keg , applied CO2 and ........mmmmmmm !!

Stainless steel braid hop strainer opened up a tad and worked fine. :D
